Judge Richardson volunteers with and supports state and local 4-H programs. For 25 years, he served as the director of the West Virginia Older 4-H Members Conference, a weeklong leadership development program for high school and college age youth. He is a 4-H All Star, and in recognition of his service to 4-Hers, he has been inducted into the West Virginia 4-H Hall of Fame.
Judge Richardson also supports other youth camping programs. He is a long-time member of the board of trustees of the Greenbrier County Youth Camp, currently serving as its vice president, and he was named to the Youth Camp's Roll of Honor in 2017 for his work on behalf of the camp.
An active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Judge Richardson has served on the board of directors of both the local Habitat affiliate and the statewide support organization, Habitat for Humanity of West Virginia.
He has also served on the board of directors for Legal Aid of West Virginia and for HospiceCare. He was an active member of the hospice board during the merger of Greenbrier Valley Hospice with HospiceCare, which led to increased services in our area, including the establishment of the Peyton Hospice House.
